CEoqs
(Continental European oil & gas qualification scheme)
CEoqs is the new community for oil and gas suppliers and buyers within Continental Europe.
For the past decade Shale Gas has become an increasingly important source of natural gas in the US and a hot topic within the oil and gas industry. Trapped in rock, Shale Gas has been a known but unexploited resource for many years. Now newly developed hydraulic fracturing techniques combined with established directional drilling technology makes extraction of the gas a viable option – a development that is of great interest to European governments.
The first European drillings started in Poland last year and now Achilles is launching a new TSMS, SMS and Audit scheme for continental Europe focusing on on-shore exploration. CEoqs founding members are Chevron Poland, Chevron Romania, Talisman and Marathon.
“This opportunity is very exciting as shale gas is found all over the world making it a global opportunity for Achilles and this is the first Achilles community that focuses on on-shore exploration. This is also a perfect example of how Achilles Group and the Regions work together to achieve good results”, says Per Karschowski.
The Polish reserves are part of a wider resource that stretches across large areas of Europe – Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Northern Italy, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, France, Northern Spain, Portugal, the North Sea and South East England. There is potential for this rich natural resource to make Europe self-sufficient in gas in the near future.
